Regulatory

Arran Chemical Co Ltd was granted an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) licence from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in December 1996, with a new updated licence issued after a revision in July 2007. One of the conditions of the licence requires Arran to submit an Annual Environmental Report (AER) to the EPA, with the 18th AER filed at the end of March 2016. All reports provided by Arran to the EPA are available for inspection by any member of the public at EPA, Office of Environmental Enforcement, Castlebar, Co. Mayo during normal office hours. Copies of AERs may also be viewed at Arran by appointment. Arran manages its environmental control programme within the terms of the IPPC licence and the supervision by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The licence and ISO drives a process of continual improvement in the setting of target & objectives to reduce the environmental impact of site operations.

Arran is a member of BioPharmaChem Ireland, the European Fine Chemicals Group (EFCG) and adheres to the Responsible Care Programme. The REACH legislation (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) entered into force in the European Union on 1 June 2007. We have pre-registered our current products and key raw materials and will be completing both lead and joint registration roles of our product range in line with the prescribed deadlines. We welcome contact with interested parties.

Arran is in good compliance with health and safety regulations and maintains its Safety Management System (SMS), with regular updates and reviews to take account of new national and European directives, under the supervision of the Irish Health & Safety Authority. The safety system contains documented risk assessments and process controls are documented in all process batch records.
