Arran applies the principals of ISO 50001, the International standard for Energy Management.
Arran is proud to announce that 100% of electricity procured is derived from fully renewable sources.
SBTi targets will be submitted by the end of 2024 with a view to verification in 2025 – this will show our road map to Net Zero.

Accountable waste stream processing
- We operate an Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001.
- All hazardous waste for recovery or disposal is recorded and reported on an annual basis in full compliance with an Industrial Emissions licence issued by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Strict control of gaseous emissions
- Arran operates under an Industrial Emissions licence administered by the Irish EPA.
- Gaseous emissions are limited to 20 mg per m³ volatile organic content.
– This is continuously monitored using real-time electronic technology.
- Arran has recently procured, installed and qualified a state-of-the-art gaseous emissions abatement system.
– This encompasses fully integrated control systems, scrubbers and a regenerative thermal oxidiser. Total capital expenditure was approximately €4.5 million.

Responsible Care® programme
- Arran is a member of the Responsible Care® programme – a European Chemical Agency group that benchmarks chemical plants in terms of environmental performance.
- Responsible Care® is a fully voluntary initiative to drive continuous improvement in safe chemicals management and to achieve excellence in health, safety and security performance.
- Arran Chemical Company is also fully compliant with European Chemical Agency REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals)
Sustainable manufacture
- Arran’s proprietary manufacturing process use highly efficient solvent and product recycling systems.
